Elmet Technologies LLC in Lewiston, Maine has an immediate need for a 2nd shift Factory Utility Worker to perform a variety of general tasks and services in support of plant operation and general maintenance of buildings and grounds.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Supplies Shipping Department with necessary containers, boxes and crates as required
  • Performs minor facility maintenance as required
  • Performs all scrap material handling (pick-up, packaging, sorting, preparation for shipping) as required as well as maintaining an accurate inventory of same
  • Performs general material handling as required in support of plant operation
  • Cleans and/or shake dust collectors, changers or cleans some water or ventilation filters performs minor plant boiler maintenance, maintains water treatment and boiler treatment chemicals and other general tasks as directed by supervision
  • May assist plant chemist or engineering in the calibration of environmental or other equipment necessary to plant operation
  • Operates company and/or rented vehicles to make pick-ups or deliveries as required to support plant operation
  • Will, at times, fill, change, replenish or empty coolant/lubricant tanks on various plant equipment as well as assist or support machine operators and/or maintenance personnel in the performing of these tasks
  • Picks up and/or processes various sludges and residues throughout the plant as necessary
  • Performs various building and ground tasks as required by safety consideration or circumstance such as snow and ice removal, sanding and salting, and weed control, etc.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks on all material handling equipment, motor vehicles, cleaning and other equipment used by housing or other equipment as needed
  • Operates re-claimers, oil/water separators and other similar types of equipment in support of plant operation
  • Performs other miscellaneous service functions as necessary and as directed by supervision
  • Keeps work area neat and orderly
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures and reports all accidents, hazards and equipment problems
  • Perform other duties as required


Skills/Experience/Training Required:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to use basic hand measuring tools
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Maine driver’s license 



Physical Demands:


  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Routinely operates/uses equipment, machines, and tools requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity
  • Routinely communicates face-to-face
  • Routinely performs duties in production floor environment
  • Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling and stopping
  • Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift
  • Must be able to wear protective gear
