POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for overseeing the production order cycle (release to closure), monitoring/prioritization of work centers within the business unit and communicating production status to all shareholders. Key duties include inventory utilization, coordination with the materials team and preparing the master schedule. This role requires strong organizational communication, and problem-solving skills to support supply chain efficiency and cost-initiatives.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, organizing/optimizing storage locations, conducting cycle counts/audits, and recommending optimal inventory levels to meet operational demands without excess.
- Capacity & Contingency Planning: Identifying production bottleneck and recommending shifts, overtime and/or outsourcing to manage shifts and capacity outages. Able to communicate and present these plans.
- Distribution & Ready to Work: Release of orders in a timely manner while promoting a “ready to work” environment. Identifying constraints and working through the materials team to maintain schedule.
- Systems Usage: Utilization of software & systems as required to create and maintain the production schedule within the business sector of the plant. Work with Production, Sales and Inventory reports within the ERP. Integration of ERP data with Excel to allow spreadsheet functionality.
- Cross-Functional Responsibilities: Work with Materials Teams to manage raw material supply, review customer requirements, understand quality documentation needs and escalate feedback to other business stakeholders. May include supporting office functions, helping cost control, assisting production management in basic reporting around WIP and Inventory, as well as quality driven initiatives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or relevant industry experience is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to work with internal teams, suppliers and management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain detailed records and keep a structured work schedule is critical.
- Experience with inventory software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office products is desired.
- An understanding of basic measuring equipment and industry material standards.
- Attention to Detail, Solution-Oriented with a Continuous Improvement mindset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - Hybrid environment between office and plant.
- Foundry-like environment with areas of excess heat and dust.
- Occasional movement of materials and participating in plant continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety procedures and protective equipment are often required.
