Responsible for executing the operational plan at the manufacturing plant. Ensures cost, quality and on-time delivery objectives are met. Reviews production orders against production schedules to determine workforce requirements. Directs activities through use of production supervision, monitors progress of production and anticipates or investigates major causes of delays and ensures corrective action is taken. Responsible for maintaining a cross-trained workforce that operates within the safety guidelines. Drives continuous improvement and a lean environment.
Principle activities/Duties:
1. Monitors sales orders against production schedules to determine workforce requirements. Coordinates production activities with Production Supervisors to ensure customer satisfaction is met.
2. Determine weekly, monthly, and annual production goals that are to be communicated to department personnel during regular status and department meetings.
3. Maintains a continuous review of schedules, methods, standards or other production factors and makes recommendations to improve quality and/or reduce cost.
4. Prepares operating budgets in concert with the sales forecasts, long term strategy and other functional departments.
5. Determine what non-standard inquiries can be serviced with our equipment and process capabilities.
6. Communicate and coordinate preventative maintenance activities in the production department by participating in areas of scheduling, production activity adjustments, as well as maintaining orders for routine supplies for maintenance requirements.
7. Research and plan for production equipment purchase, replacement, upgrade and expansion.
8. Drive the organization towards continuous improvement by leading kaizen and 5S improvements.
9. Directs the activities of operations including but not limited to hiring, motivating, training, and performance management.
10. Communication with all levels of employees within the department and with management staff. Develop/ identify measurable performance objectives and behavioral based performance expectations in writing.
11. Facilitate and/ or coordinate provision of direct training for job specific corrective actions to address improvements in productivity, quality, interpersonal skills and/or adherence to Company policies.
12. Perform annual performance evaluations of all direct reports, salaried and hourly personnel and provide feedback on opportunities for career advancement/ improvements. Recommend disciplinary actions, promotions, purchases.
13. Provide regular direct coaching to develop existing supervisors and those identified for potential promotion.
14. Maintains time and attendance for designated employees and departments as well as manage employee vacations while maintaining shipping department active.
15. Foster a safe work environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
16. Active participant in the Management Review Board and is responsible for dispositioning all non-conforming material, which includes scrap or possible repurposing”.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
2. 7-10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Ability to communicate proficiently both orally and in writing using the English language.
4. Strong Lean methodologies, concepts, practices and procedures understanding.
5. Ability to lead a team. Leadership development.
